
Designing for greater collaboration across multiple teams
Challenge
Google (Design & User Experience teams) approached us with a two part request: to support their internal design teams to collaborate better across workstreams and to develop their skills in designing services for higher levels of meaningful human connection.
Approach
We knew we'd have to design a support package that would enable participants to both understand the process of designing for connection, as well as experience and 'buy in' to the value of adopting the approach as their culture for internal collaboration. We took them on a journey, mapping recent collaborations and identifying human connection gaps and opportunities. Team members experimented with our methods, created their own and adopted a range appropriate for their work.
Outputs
The final outputs were bespoke connection methods in the form of method cards, so these could be shared with the wider team, alongside our existing design framework for human connection. The team developed skills that resulted in more effective collaboration amongst team members across Google.
